Personal Attendent

The homemaker provides personal care and homemaking services to clients who are admitted to J&J Home Care, Inc. in accordance with a plan of care established by the professional staff of J&J Home Care, Inc.

Provides personal care which includes but not limited to: bathing/showering, total or partial assistance, shampooing, hair care, skin care, applying lotions, nail care as appropriate with consideration to clients' diagnosis, grooming, oral hygiene.
Assists with ambulation, mobility, use of assistive devices, transfers.
Cleans home such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, picking up, mopping, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, assists client and/or family members with household tasks.
Buys groceries, plan and prepare meals, set up meals, feed if necessary.
Run errands, takes shopping, transports as needed.
Does laundry, makes beds.
Provides companionship and emotional support.
Performs bowel and bladder requirements as ordered and trained.

Travel required in Artesia and the sounding areas. Provide own transportation to patient's homes.
Physical demands can require heavy lifting and strenuous activities.
Uniforms are not required but scrubs are highly recommended, with a clean and professional appearance at all times.

Must be at least 18 years of age and have the ability to read and write in English adequately to be able to fill out forms and follow instructions from the ISP (individual service plan).
Must pass a state certified written Homemaker Competency Exam 'with a grade of 85% or better.
Must complete an orientation program with a skill check list that includes the above duties and responsibilities, and be evaluated annually.
Must be trained in CPR and first aid, with annual updates.
Must maintain 12 hours of training/in service annually.
Must maintain daily notes of care given to clients, with time in and out recorded and signed by both client and employee.
Must attend staff meetings and team conferences.
Must possess a current NM driver's license, current car insurance, and a social security card to be placed in a personnel file.
Must have current TB testing as required by the state.
Must meet with the interdisciplinary team for the ISP planning.
Must pass the criminal background check.
